In 1982 I enlisted in the British Army. My initial deployment was with the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR) serving with the 4th & 3rd Armoured Divisions, whilst I also completed operational tours in the South Atlantic & Canada.
In 1987 I joined the British contingent of the Allied Command Europe (ACE) Mobile Force, specialising in Arctic Warfare. I participated in NATO operations around the world including Operation Desert Storm in March 1991. In 1992 I visited with the USMC at Camp Lejeune & US Army at Fort Bragg.
From 1993 to 1996 I served with the UK 5th Airborne Brigade deploying to Africa and Europe.
In 1996 I joined the British Police where I served 23 years mainly within New Scotland Yard. I fulfilled various challenging Detective roles at practitioner and management level within the Counter Terrorism, Serious & Organised Crime and Homicide arenas before retiring as a Senior Investigating Officer in 2019.
As a student of Military History, I have been lucky to visit battlefield sites all over Europe, North Africa, South Atlantic and the USA. I have immersed myself in the history of D-Day and also as a Battlefield Tour Guide. I am currently reading for a Master’s Degree in Military History with the Centre Of War Studies and I am a member of the US Society for Military History & Kings College London Second World War Research Group.
I have been a resident of Normandy since 2011. I have dedicated a vast amount of time to researching the sites and National Archives in relation to the Allied Normandy Campaign and beyond and I continue to do so. I have met and interviewed multiple veterans from the WW2 era and have been lucky enough to have accompanied them to several commemorative events.
As an academic and practitioner of military history specialising in the Second World War, my area of expertise covers all of the iconic Normandy Campaign battlefield sites and beyond. I am very happy to join large coach travel groups or accompany clients on self drive private tours. Therefore I do not list itineraries on the website as they are flexible and individual to a client’s request.
As an investigative researcher I aid & offer assistance to Authors, Media and production companies, I also offer this service to military associations & individuals searching for specific information relating to the Normandy campaign. On agreement of Terms of Service, I will undertake to produce a full detailed dossier of the information requested. Where appropriate this will include photographs, map references and all relevant primary source material citations including bibliographic references.
Over the years I have helped to raise money for veterans charities in numerous ways such as cycling from London to Paris, participating in several London marathons and helping to organise large fundraising events. I am a member of the Royal British Legion, UK Airborne Forces & the US 29th Infantry Division associations and each year I donate a percentage of my proceeds to a veterans charity.
