
The attached photographs are all that remain of a large American/German cemetery that was once located deep in the French Bocage near Percy-en-Normandy.
The cemetery was in use between August 1944 – May 1957 and was the temporary resting place for 2102 American Soldiers & 1628 German soldiers
including the most senior officer of the 28th Inf Div to be killed in the Normandy campaign.
Brigadier General James E Wharton shot by a german sniper while reviewing troops from the 112th Infantry Regiment on August 12th 1944.
